The Program Coordinator’s core duties are to coordinate appropriate mental health referrals to Washington state families and their children and to build community relationships to add pediatric mental health providers into our growing database. In this position the candidate will develop their understanding on how to navigate the mental health system within the state and be able to appropriately recommend services and evidence-supported treatments from the clinical intake.

We are seeking a candidate who is passionate about pediatric mental health and who is excited about building relationships and fostering connections with external and internal partners and stakeholders. Key attributes include someone who is organized, has an attention to detail, can manage timelines effectively and has a strong ability to develop interpersonal relationships. In addition, this role will be responsible for partnering with the team in order to participate in continuous improvement efforts in order to effectively implement change as our program evolves.

The Program Coordinator II is responsible for coordinating activities associated with a specific complex program or group of complex programs in a specialty/functional area including scheduling, coordination of communication, data management, document preparation, and process improvement. Works in collaboration with the Program Manager and other program staff as well as other stakeholders to help to implement the program’s objectives in support of identified goals and the continuous improvement process. Responsible for ensuring effective communication among stakeholders and program staff. May manage data on the program’s effectiveness. Responsible for facilitating the deployment of the program’s strategy including implementing a variety of solutions that optimize the program’s effectiveness. Coordinates the process of executing initiatives essential for the success of the program.


Support guided management and coordination of Washington's Mental Health Referral Service for Children and Teens (MHRS) within the Children's Hospital's Psychiatry Department, Partnership Access Line (PAL).

Encourage equality between physical and mental health (destigmatizing receiving mental health service), coach families to overcome logistical barriers, and show empowerment over shame.

Support the development as part of every referral service:

- Encourage equality between physical and mental health (destigmatizing receiving mental health service)

- Champion family voice and choice

- Coach families to overcome logistical barriers

- Show compassion for those with mental health issues

- Show empowerment over shame

Provide comprehensive and effective clinical intakes:

- Identify mental health professionals that are paneled with their insurance, accept new patients and deliver evidence-supported treatments

- Coordinate and provide a referral plan

- Coordinate post referral reviews and communicate any outstanding service needs

- Triage inquires related to mental health referral supports

- Maintain and update information timely in the Salesforce database system

Communication support:

- Participate in continuous improvements efforts for program effectiveness

- Participate in program-related communication with internal and external stakeholders, including potential partners, to be responsive to the needs of the state, SCH, and the community in the area of mental health

- Cultivate and collaborate with the team to coordinate a willingness to learn and actively engage in anti-racist work

- Effectively represent the values and mission of Children’s Hospital and Partnership Access Line in all community-based activities

Qualifications & Requirements
Required Education/Experience:
- 2 years college coursework in Business, Healthcare, Human Services or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3 years program coordination support experience; including at least 1 year of experience organizing multiple projects through to completion
- Successful track record convening and facilitating dialogue with multiple and diverse stakeholders
- Experience with: drafting, editing and developing communications and/or reports; data analysis and data entry

Required Credentials:

- Minimum of three (3) years experience in pediatric mental and behavioral health program support, social service setting, communications, healthcare or related area in a hospital, research
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Project Management, Marketing, Human Services or related field
- Experience working in public health, health care or social services
- Experience working on continuous process improvement projects and understanding of lean methodology
