Job Description
The ASU Technology office is looking for a dynamic full-stack developer to be a part of our growing Mobile & IoT Team. The Mobile Development group continues to be at the forefront of technological innovation at ASU. Implementation of new smart technologies across the campus is evidence of ASU’s commitment to the greater “Smart Campus” initiative. If you would like to develop applications that contribute to ASU’s leading position as the Most Innovative University, then this is the opportunity for you.

This position is seeking a talented developer who has full-stack development experience. The developer will work on Mobile & IoT projects that span building dashboards to hybrid mobile apps and backend to frontend development. You will gain experience on AWS cloud and use a variety of Javascript frameworks. Candidate should be able to communicate clearly with stakeholders, staff, IT colleagues, and others to identify user requirements, assess available technologies, and recommend quality solutions.

As with everyone in the UTO family, culture and communications are core responsibilities in this role.

Essential Duties
• Act as a primary developer on team projects from backend to frontend coding
• Have a strong desire to learn new technologies necessary to complete a project
• Understand and provide guidance for all security protocols and mechanisms involved with development
• Perform hands-on solution design, prototyping, proof-of-concepts, as required in support of current and new projects
• Work on all phases of a project: development, testing, remediation, production support, etc.
• Communicate with team regarding status updates
• Support architectural and development guidelines and best practices
• Fix bugs and identify areas for improvement
• Take responsibility for fostering culture, advancing our values, and championing engagement in all its forms -- collaborating across our teams as well as participating in UTO/ASU events and programs.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Technology or related field AND two (2) years experience providing information technology services; OR, Six (6) years experience providing information technology services; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Certificates from recognized programs that indicate mastery of tools and techniques relevant to the assignment may substitute for up to six months experience.

Desired Qualifications
• Experience in developing with the full software development life cycle
• Experience with ReactJS/React-Native or similar Javascript framework
• Cloud experience with AWS, Firebase, Google Cloud.
• Experience with working with mobile apps (iOS or Android).
• Demonstrated knowledge of software testing design from Unit Tests to Integration Tests
• Demonstrated knowledge with Service Oriented Architecture & serverless development
• Experience in modeling empathy, compassion and emotional intelligence
• Experience hiring in a values-led organization, emphasizing diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging
• Experience in helping foster a safe psychological space for all teammates where everyone can thrive
• Experience in stimulating changes in individual, institutional, and corporate behaviors to create a more sustainable environment

Working Environment
• Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse.
• Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
• Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
• Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
• Clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
