Central State Summer Bridge Program Offers Incoming Freshmen Opportunities to Receive up $14,000 in Scholarships
Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on March 20, 2023 The Climate Smart Summer Bridge Program at Central State University (CSU) is now accepting applications for incoming freshmen to take part in the Undergraduate Extension Experience Academy this summer from June 4-July 7, 2023. Graduating seniors who have committed to attending CSU and majoring in an AGRISTEM or agriculture program are eligible to participate in the 5-week program. Students will receive 6 credit hours towards the completion of their degree at Central State. Through this 5-week residential camp, participating students will be engaged in courses such as Biology, Biology Lab, and First Year Student Seminar. In addition to receiving college credit, participants will also be eligible to receive up to $14,000 in scholarship awards to complete their degree at Central State. They will also have opportunities to engage in research, and work for NRCS while attending CSU. This program is made possible through a partnership with Central State University (CSU) and The United States Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) who are working together to build capacity through the establishment of a Climate Smart Agriculture Center (CSA) at Central State University. The Climate Smart Agriculture Center (CSA) will advance student learning through classroom and experiential learning opportunities in preparation for the 21st Century Agriculture STEM (AGRISTEM) workforce. The CSA will enhance students’ learning by providing an enriched environment to explore concepts of protecting natural resources and developing strategies for Climate-Smart Agriculture in Ohio and the U.S. The CSA aims to enhance student awareness of USDA-NRCS careers, increase student engagement, increase student experiential learning opportunities, and increase student preparation for professional careers.
