While Douglas is no stranger to unfamiliar waters, as the first African American to earn a doctorate in chemistry from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, he believes the challenges are equal. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to pursue endeavors outside of a traditional primary job, even though Chemistry was his chosen career path.
