Comfort My Soul Gospel Music Conference and Concert
Posted By: Felicia Harried on September 28, 2022 Mississippi Cultural Crossroads, located in downtown Port Gibson, MS is honored to partner once again with the Southwest Mississippi Center for Culture and Learning at Alcorn State University to present the 2022 installment of Comfort My Soul: A Celebration of Gospel Music in Southwest MS and Beyond. This year presentations and panel discussions will explore the subject of Gospel Music Crossovers from a very broad perspective. September is designated as National Gospel Music Heritage Month and the Comfort My Soul Conference is all about bringing awareness to the influence of gospel music in nearly every realm of life, from other music genres to TV and movies, to stage plays, to cultural movements and more. Gospel music is an integral part woven into the soundtrack of our lives. For more information about Comfort My Soul or Mississippi Cultural Crossroads, visit the website, comfortmysoul.org, or msculturalcrossroads.org, or email mcc@msculturalcrossroads.org. Comfort My Soul is made possible by generous support from the Center for Culture and Learning at Alcorn State University, the National Endowment for the Arts, Visit Mississippi, and the Mississippi Humanities Council (sponsor of Hold That Thought Thursday kickoff). Mississippi Cultural Crossroads is also supported by the City of Port Gibson, Claiborne County Board of Supervisors, and businesses, churches, organizations and individuals.
