How Will Texas HBCUs Respond to Governor's 'End of COVID Restrictions' Mandate?

How Will Texas HBCUs Respond to Governor
Posted By: Will Moss on March 02, 2021

The governors of Texas and Mississippi announced today that they would be lifting their states' mask mandates and rolling back many of their Covid-19 health mandates, just one day after the CDC warned against complacency with the threat of emerging coronavirus variants.

"It is now time to open Texas 100 percent," Texas Gov.

Greg Abbott said Tuesday afternoon at Montelongo's Mexican Restaurant in Lubbock.

Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas released the following statement:
Texas Southern University is aware of Governor Abbott’s executive order to end the
statewide mask mandate and for businesses to open at one hundred percent capacity in
Texas, effective March 10th.

As permitted within the executive order, TSU will continue with the established Return To
Tigerland protocols and procedures for Phase 2. Facial coverings, social distancing,
temperature checks, and daily COVID questionnaires will be maintained for all campus
buildings.

Remember to show that Tigers Care by being mindful of your fellow Tigers in your behavior
and actions, on and off campus. Your compliance and cooperation are appreciated.
