4 Ways to Handle Dry Skin if Regular Moisturizing Doesn’t Work
Posted By: Anica Oaks on November 24, 2020 If you experience dry skin frequently in college, you’ve likely tried applying moisturizer to remedy the problem. However, moisturizer may not be giving you the results that you want, and you should consider trying other methods to solve your dry skin problem. Here are four ways to handle dry skin if regular moisturizing doesn’t work. Try Other Skincare ProductsThere are other skincare products that may give your skin the extra hydration that it needs and could possibly work better for you than a standard moisturizer. Petroleum jelly or a thicker cream might be a better alternative for you. Another idea is to try using certain household products to make your own moisturizer. Some of the items that are known to provide natural hydration when applied to the skin include shea butter, olive **** and Manuka honey. Use a HumidifierDry skin is known to be caused by dryness in the air, and using a humidifier can help replenish moisture. This small device can be placed in just about any room in your home and turned on so that it emits moisture in the air to help you combat skin dryness naturally. Experts suggest setting your humidifier to around 60 percent so that the top layer of skin can be hydrated more effectively. See a DermatologistA specific skin condition could be causing your skin dryness, and a qualified dermatologist can examine you to determine if a skin condition is the culprit. Atopic dermatitis disease is a known cause of frequent dry skin, and a dermatologist can prescribe medication that offers relief. Psoriasis is another condition that makes the skin drier and can be treated with the right medication. Change Your Grooming ProductsCuring your chronic dry skin might be as simple as changing the types of bath and beauty products that you use. The type of soap or deodorant that you use could be leaving you with excessively dry skin, and switching to another brand may be the solution. Perfumes and other body fragrances are also sometimes linked to dry skin, and use of these products should be discontinued at least temporarily until skin dryness is resolved. Dry skin doesn’t have to be a regular part of your life, and you should consider trying other alternatives to replenish skin moisture if a standard moisturizer isn’t working for you. Finding the right solution may cure your dry skin problem once and for all and can leave you feeling more comfortable in your own skin.
