‘Ali’s Comeback’ & the Greatest Knockout Watch-Party

Posted By: Robert Walker on October 07, 2020 Muhammad Ali, The Greatest, might not have become the greatest if it weren’t for a seminal fight that took place in Atlanta, GA. on Oct. 26th, 1970. Muhammad Ali vs. Jerry Quarry, the then “Great White Hope” in heavyweight boxing. To understand just how significant this fight was that would usher Muhammad Ali back into the U.S. pro boxing ring, and allow him to go onto establish his title as The Greatest, you would have to see that this was a fight more outside of the ring than inside of it, and given the political and social injustices of the time, juxtaposed to the political and social injustices of today, 50 years later, you realize that Ali’s title even led much more about the man than his boxing prowess. His significance to Civil Rights and the Racism issue of the Vietnam Nam war and ills in this country rings just as loud today. You are invited to join in on a special watch-party called “The Greatest Knockout” with special celebrity guests who attended the fight, and politicians and businessmen who fought to make Ali’s comeback one of the greatest feats in professional sports history 50 years later.
