Coach Deion Sanders & Jackson State Make Offer to Top High School Football Prospect and LSU Commit, Khamauri Rogers!
Posted By: Will Moss on October 05, 2020 Holmes County football coach Marcus Rogers had one main statement to make when his son Khamauri Rogers, the top junior in Mississippi, received an offer from Jackson State on Sept. 23. "I don't know why it took so long," he Rogers said. Marcus played at Jackson State from 1996-2000, and Khamauri grew up going to JSU football games. Khamauri told the Clarion Ledger he's always wanted to be recruited by an HBCU because he loved the atmosphere growing up going to JSU games. "The fans are very passionate," Khamauri said. "They don't like losing. It was just fun back then, but now that I'm getting recruited I have to take it serious." Marcus said Khamauri was smiling once he found out Jackson State would offer him, as interim head coach Otis Riddley called the recruit with the official offer. Khamauri met new Jackson State football coach Deion Sanders three years ago at a Prime 21 Camp in Arlington, Texas. Sanders has always liked Khamauri as a player, and talks with his father twice a month. Holmes County cornerback Khamauri Rogers and Deion Sanders. "It was cool learning from one of the greats," Khamauri said. "Learning what he used back in the day, and he's taught me some of the things he's used." Khamauri is committed to LSU and is also fielding offers from Arizona State, Illinois and Kansas. He said he doesn't have any programs ranked, including Jackson State, in preference.
