West Virginia State University Extension Service to Host Tree Pruning Workshop
Posted By: Elynor Moss on February 20, 2018 West Virginia State University (WVSU) Extension Service will host a workshop on fruit tree pruning and backyard orchard management Saturday, March 10, at 10 a.m. at the WVSU campus orchard in Institute. The event is free to attend. gParticipants will learn to prune and maintain young fruit trees and mitigate the effects of fire blight on an orchard,h said WVSU Extension Agent Alex Cole, who will lead the session. Designed for all experience levels, the workshop will focus on all aspects of fruit tree care and upkeep. Instruction will be followed by a hands-on demonstration of proper pruning. Registration is required by contacting Cole at (304) 767-8687 or alex.cole@wvstateu.edu. The campus orchard is located adjacent to Route 25, near the entrance to campus. Attendees should enter campus at the main entrance and turn directly into Parking Lot C. The orchard is located at the far end of the lot.
