Southern’s Lenard Tillery signs with Rams

The SWAC’s all-time leading rusher has punched his initial ticket to the NFL. Southern’s Lenard Tillery has signed a free agent contract with the Los Angeles Rams.
Despite compiling 4,856 rushing yards in his career at SU, Tillery was not selected in last week’s NFL Draft.
“Thanks for all of the support and prayers through the years,” Tillery told the fans via HBCU Gameday’s Steven J. Gaither. “Looking forward to representing myself as well as the university on the next level. To God be the glory.”
The Rams currently have four running backs on the roster, including 2015 first round pick Todd Gurley. Tillery faces long odds at making at the roster, but former Alabama State Isaiah Crowell did it three years ago, so it is possible.
