Amberly Williams, Miss Florida A&M University

Posted By: Elynor Moss on January 19, 2017

Hometown: Midway, Florida

Year in School: Senior

Major/Minor: Biology Pre Dentistry with a minor in Chemistry

Expected Graduation: 2017

Extracurricular Activities: My extracurricular activities include The Alpha Chapter of Kappa Psi Psi Healthcare Sorority, Incorporated, S.I.S.T.U.H.S, Incorporated, The SLS First Year Experience mentoring program, 2015 Orientation Leader, FAMU Pre Dental Society, Biology Student Organization, Phi Sigma Theta National Honor Society, and serving as an official campus tour guide.

Leisure Activities: During my leisure time, I enjoy mentoring young girls and boys while working as a lifeguard at the city of Quincy parks and recreation center. I also enjoy reading books, volunteering in the local community, and traveling

Career Goals: Upon graduating with honors from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, I plan on pursuing a doctor of  dental medicine with a specialty in pediatrics in hopes of providing underprivileged youth with prob Bono dental services. A smile is one of the most prized possessions a child can possess which in turn builds confidence, self esteem, and a generally happier persona.

What is your most memorable contribution as a Campus Queen?: My fondest contribution as a campus queen would be traveling across the nation to recruit the best and brightest students. I have used untraditional methods to recruit students while lending a helping hand to assist with college applications, scholarships, and other forms of preparation. During my reign, I have dedicated my time and efforts to changing the stereotypes and limited perception of the traditional campus queen. Growing up in the South, I was sometimes told that ladies should be seen and not heard. However, Â The essence of a queen is measured not by how she wears her crown, but her voice, her actions, and the impact she leaves on the community she serves. I have dedicated my efforts to uplifting the next generation of leaders through empowering words, initiatives, and service. I have rallied against pressing issues, and spoken out against injustice, and reiterated the essence of Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
