About   (request update)
Not everyman can be famous, but everyman can be great. Because everyman can serve" (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.) These words have empowered Troy Gathers, at the young age of 26, to continue on his dynamic journey.

Growing up, Gathers had to deal with many social issues from peers because of his family's financial situation. "By the time I reached seventeen I had been to seven different schools and lived in six different neighborhoods. Because of the constant moving I spent a lot of time wishing for stability and praying for strength. I am sure every kid goes through this stage, but few spend their whole life doing so", says Gathers. Because he was always the new kid, Troy had to re-introduce himself and prove that he was creditable. "I did so by striving for excellence and blocking out negative influences."

Now, Troy Gathers has graduated from South Carolina State University and is the C.E.O. of Sixteen Seventy and B.E. Y.O.U. Sixteen Seventy is South Carolina's first clothing line to receive national recognition and to be viewed by millions on nationwide television. B.E. Y.O.U. is an Educational Lecture Program that helps the youth see the missing link to their success. Gathers currently speaks in prisons and schools to children about their true potential.

Troy Gathers is the first male in his family to enroll in a university, start a business, and to form an organization. During his presentations Troy breaks down how peers and negative influences can hinder dreams. He speaks on his road of travel leading up to this point. Gathers speaks at churches, schools, conferences, and neighborhoods. When asked about his message, Troy states, "I bring a story of ambition and struggle to motivate the youth." Ambition is his biggest message, he helps kids realize in life anything is possible.

Troy Gathers is a great example of self-determination and where one's own ambition can land them if they try.
